GIS and The Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico

GIS is playing a large role in the Deep Water Horizon spill cleanup effort by bringing all the data together so that response teams can communicate and respond efficiently and effectively as possible.  All the crews in the air, water and on the beach are gathering data including GPS points so that it can be used in the cleanup effort, projections, short and long term effects and impact of the spill.  Check out some of the mapping applications below that are being used to share data.
