As a native of Gulf County, Commissioner Bill Williams was raised in Overstreet and is a 1983 graduate of Port St. Joe High School.    Bill was elected to serve Gulf County’s District III in 2004 and reelected in 2008.  Bill’s commitment to Gulf County has extended beyond the board room. He has invested countless hours making sure that Gulf County citizens are represented at home, in Tallahassee and in Washington.Recently, Commissioner Williams became a state leader ensuring Gulf County and the entire state were protected in the response and recovery efforts during the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill.  Williams developed a seven county task force to fight BP to make sure our shorelines and economies were protected during this disaster.  Williams continues to lead the way in recovery efforts, meeting with state and federal officials to make sure counties are not ignored in recovery efforts.Throughout his tenure Commissioner Williams has continued his education to better serve the residents of Gulf County.  Following his first election in 2004, he attained his designation as a Certified County Commissioner and more recently following his reelection in 2008, completed his Advance County Commissioner training.  He has also attended the University of Florida’s Natural Resource & Leadership Fellowship program to enhance his knowledge of natural resource protection, comprehensive planning, and smart growth strategies for Gulf County.  Commissioner Williams has actively represented Gulf County through his leadership roles with the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) and the Small Counties Coalition.  Williams currently serves on the FAC Executive Committee as First Vice President and is the Co-Chairman of the Joint Oil Spill Task Force.   As a testament to his ongoing fight at the state level, Williams was awarded the Florida Association of Counties Presidential Advocacy Award in 2007 for his leadership and policy testimony to the Legislature regarding small counties & tax reform. Commissioner Williams is the proud father of three wonderful children, Kaelyn 20, Madison 14, and Will 8.  Commissioner Williams holds a M.S. degree in Business Management from Troy State University. Having over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, Williams has owned and operated Integras Therapy and Wellness Centers, Beacon Villa Retirement Center and Geri-Care Assisted Living Facility since 1998.
